We are happy to announce that we finally published our refactored pre-alpha demo here on itch.io and invite you to test our 2D puzzle adventure Duru. 

What is Duru about?

In Duru you follow the story of Tuli. Tuli leads a simple life in a mole rat colony: she collects food, meets with her friends and paints the best pictures in the colony. All the while nobody but her sees the dark creature that makes each of those activities a near unbeatable task. 

Find creative ways to run, jump and paint your way through puzzle filled tunnels even when you have to deal with an unhelpful companion that tries to hinder you from progressing.

In this short video you can see an example of how the companion in Duru holds you back when you try to solve puzzles.

Metaphor & Mission

Duru tells the story about the struggle with insecurities, depression and friendship. The companion is the metaphor for a depression: you can see a possible way of how it evolves and learn which behaviours (don't) help affected people.

As the topic is very difficult and shouldn't trigger anyone, we put it into a colorful world and communicate the story in a light-hearted way that is open for interpretation and uses symbols both in its story and language. Be prepared for a new approach of puzzle platformers and "dialog systems".

1. If you hit F2 in the game you can type in your feedback into a window. It will anonymously be send to us together with a screenshot of your scene.
